Pricing multidimensional products

Manage products with size-dependent prices

Do you calculate your prices according to the surface area sold?

Do you set your prices by linear metre, m2 or m3 and would like to obtain a customer price based on the length, width or thickness of the product you sell?

With the "Dimensional pricing" app, you can automatically calculate your selling price according to the dimensions of the product you're selling.

In your quotations or invoices, enter the item's dimensions. The application automatically calculates the item value.

Installing the app adds :

  • In the product sheet: a new setting in the "selling price" field, to designate the type of customer price for the item.
  • In quotations and invoices: a new "Calculated price" field, to designate the item's dimensions and calculate its selling price.

1. Sales price type configuration

To configure the sales price type, go to an existing or new product sheet.

In the "selling price" field, the app adds a new drop-down menu to define the price category.

Select according, if your defined unit price, excluding VAT, is expressed :

  • By product
  • Per metre
  • Per square metre
  • Per cubic metre

This choice impacts the length, width and depth fields, which you can then enter when calling up the item in a quote or invoice.

For example, if your product is :

  • A plate whose marketed size corresponds to a surface, select: "square meter".
  • A volume of material, marketed by m3, select: "cubic meter".

2. Calculation of selling price based on dimensions

On quotations and invoices, when you call up an item whose sales price type is other than "by product", the app adds a new "Calculated price" field for entering the item's dimensions.

This field includes one or more boxes for entering dimensions, depending on the pricing characteristic applied to the item.

Thus, if you have selected :

  • Per metre: a field is provided to define the length.
  • Per square metre: two fields are available to define length and height
  • Per cubic metre: three fields are available to define length, height and depth

Dimensions are to be entered in centimetres: cm

The values entered are then used to calculate the product's selling price.

To market a surface, the application multiplies the length and height by the item's unit price, and automatically calculates the final selling price.
