General principles
IP filtering works as follows: every computer or cell phone that connects to the Internet does so from an IP address, which identifies it to the network on which it is located. Company network, 4G mobile network, personal home network. By authorizing one or more addresses, you decide whether connections are possible. For example, you can authorize only connections to incwo from the company's local network.
Potential danger: if you make an erroneous setting with an IP on which you are not located, you will no longer have access to the software, and therefore you will not be able to modify the setting. We provide a deactivation link for this purpose.
Account-by-account setting of authorized IPs
Once the app is installed, click on the "Home" button. This will take you to the page where you can set the IP address(es) allowed for each account. This page shows the last IP address for each user. To modify addresses, enter the IP address(es) separated by commas. You can also enter a wildcard for the last number, i.e. a star. In this way, all addresses with the first three numbers identical will be authorized.
Example of authorized entries:
- "200.230.3.10"
- "200.230.3.10, 200.230.3.11"
- "200.230.3.10, 200.230.3.11, 152.34.23.*"
Example of erroneous entries:
- "*.230.3.10" bad wildcard
- "200.230.3.11.23" wrong IP address format
- "152.34.*.12" bad wildcard
The setting is applied immediately: as soon as the address is registered, if IP filtering is enabled, the control is effective. In case of forbidden address :
- The user is informed of the filtering in place for him, and of his current address.
- The app admin is notified by email
Activating and deactivating filtering
Once you've set your filters, go to the app's settings tab and activate filtering.
To disable it, if you have access, use this same interface. If you don't have access, use the link provided on the IP address settings page. Please note that this link is specific to you and will be valid as long as you have access to the application. So, if you have given access to these settings to another person and you decide to revoke their access to incwo, their link will no longer work.
Access information
Set an app administrator to be notified by email of the following events:
- Each time access is denied: it will receive the user's identity, IP filter and IP address.
- Each use of the IP filtering deactivation link
